4 Pillars

Brand, Culture, Social & Campaign Strategy

Better Ingredients. Better Pizza. Better Get You Some.

A rallying cry that works from TV to TikTok

The Challenge

Papa John's had "Better Ingredients. Better Pizza." A genuine operational commitment. But years of leadership transitions had fragmented the brand voice across franchisees, corporate, and consumers. The brand was respected, not loved.

The ask: a comprehensive brand playbook that would unify the entire organization behind a single, compelling brand story, with cultural relevance to win a new generation of pizza lovers.

Research Discoveries

  • Consumers respected the quality but lacked emotional connection. It was respected, not loved.
  • Franchisees operated with wildly different local brand expressions. National identity was dissolving.
  • Domino's owned tech, Pizza Hut owned nostalgia. Papa John's needed its own territory.
  • "Better Ingredients" needed to go from rational claim to brand personality people want to spend time with.

The Insight

Pizza isn't just food. It's a social contract.

When someone orders pizza, they're making a promise to the people they're sharing it with: "This is going to be great." Papa John's needed to be the brand that takes that promise seriously. Not just with ingredients, but with devotion. "Hey Papa" became the invitation.

The Brand Behind the Brands

Jacob Strategy Group

We've built brand playbooks for Papa John's, Cedars-Sinai, and more. Here's ours.

Brand Strategy Creative Full-Service Marketing

Brand Foundation

Who We Are

Purpose

To end the era of fragmented marketing, where nobody owns the outcome. We bring strategy, creative, and execution under one roof so brands actually work.

Positioning

A full-service marketing firm for growth-minded businesses that are done guessing. Strategy-first. Execution-complete. One team. One result.

Audience

CEOs, founders, and marketing leaders of $1M–$50M businesses who've tried marketing, been burned, and want someone who thinks like an owner.

Brand Personality

Four Traits That Define Us

Direct

We say what needs to be said. No jargon. No fluff. No dodging the hard conversation. Clients hire us for our opinion, not our obedience.

Curious

We ask why five times before we answer what once. The best strategy comes from genuine curiosity about our clients' businesses.

Relentless

We don't stop at "good enough." We optimize, refine, and push until the work actually works. Comfort is not a metric we track.

Invested

We treat your budget like our own. We think like owners because we've been owners. Your wins are our case studies.

Tone of Voice

This, Not That

Situation We Say This Not That
Introducing Ourselves "We're a full-service marketing firm. Strategy through execution. One team." "We're a full-service integrated marketing solutions agency."
Explaining Our Approach "Strategy before spend. Clarity before creative. Results before reports." "We leverage data-driven insights to optimize omnichannel performance."
Diagnosing the Problem "You're spending money on marketing that isn't working. Let's figure out why." "There appears to be a suboptimal ROI on your current marketing investment."
The Promise "Marketing that actually works. Not marketing that looks busy." "Delivering measurable marketing outcomes across all channels."
Handling Skepticism "You should be skeptical. You've been burned before. Let us show you the difference." "We understand your concerns. Our proven methodology ensures satisfaction."
The Close "If you want tactics first, we're not the right partner. If you want your marketing to make sense again — let's talk." "We'd love the opportunity to earn your business. Let's schedule a discovery call."

Core Values

What We Stand For

01

Strategy First. Always.

We don't build creative without clarity. Every engagement starts with understanding — not assumptions, not templates, not "what worked for someone else."

02

Own the Outcome

We don't pass blame between vendors — there are no vendors. One team. One result. If something isn't working, we say so and fix it.

03

Tell the Truth

We tell clients what they need to hear, not what they want to hear. A hard truth now saves a wasted year later. Our clients pay for judgment, not compliance.

04

Make It Work

Pretty is nice. Effective is non-negotiable. We optimize for outcomes — leads, revenue, growth — not awards, not aesthetics, not vanity metrics.

05

Simplify Everything

Marketing is complicated. Working with us shouldn't be. Clear briefs. Straightforward proposals. No jargon. No mysteries. No "trust us, it's working."

06

Stay Hungry

Comfort is the enemy. We stay curious, keep learning, and push ourselves harder than any client ever would. The day we coast is the day we lose.

Messaging Architecture

Every Audience, One Voice

For CEOs & Founders

"Marketing shouldn't be the hardest part of running your business."

You're good at what you do. Marketing is what gets in the way. We remove the burden so you can focus on running the company.

  • One partner. No vendor circus.
  • Strategy through execution.
  • Someone who thinks like an owner.
For Marketing Directors

"You need a partner who makes you look good. Not one you have to manage."

You're tired of managing agencies that miss deadlines, blow budgets, and deliver work you have to redo. We operate like part of your team.

  • Briefs that get it right the first time.
  • Deadlines that are kept.
  • Results you can report up.
For Prospective Hires

"Work where your ideas actually ship."

We're not a holding company. No layers of approval. No politics. Just smart people building work that goes out into the world and makes a difference.

  • Strategy + creative under one roof.
  • See your work run nationally.
  • No egos. Just outcomes.

The Elevator Pitch

"We're a full-service marketing firm that handles strategy through execution. So you get one partner who owns the outcome, not four vendors pointing fingers."

The One-Liner

Strategy Before Spend.

Competitive Landscape

Why We Win

The Competition

Big Holding Company Agencies

Strategy, creative, media, and analytics in four different buildings. Nobody owns the outcome. Layers of overhead. Slow.

Boutique Creative Shops

Beautiful work. No strategy behind it. Great for awards. Bad for business results.

Performance Marketing Agencies

Obsessed with dashboards. No brand thinking. Great at spending money. Questionable at building value.

Freelancers & Fractional CMOs

Smart people. No team behind them. One person can't do strategy, creative, production, and execution alone.

Our Edge

One Roof

Strategy, creative, photography, videography, campaigns — all under one roof. No finger-pointing. No misaligned briefs.

Strategy-First DNA

Every engagement starts with understanding. We don't build creative without clarity. We don't spend budget without a plan.

Owner's Mindset

We treat budgets like they're our own. We make hard calls. We tell the truth. We obsess over the P&L impact, not just the creative reel.

National Brand Pedigree

Papa John's. Cedars-Sinai. Days Inn. We've done the work at the highest level. Now we bring that thinking to growth-minded businesses.

Success Metrics

How We Measure What Matters

Revenue

Did the work make money? The ultimate metric. Not impressions. Not clicks. Dollars.

Clarity

Does the brand make sense? When a customer can explain what you do in one sentence, we've done our job.

Trust

Do clients stay? Refer us? Our retention rate and referral pipeline are the truest measures of our work.

Growth

Are our clients getting bigger? Market share gains, new locations, new hires — expansion is the scoreboard.
